In one pocket I found a pretty tatted hankie. But those I find all the time so thats not the surprise. Checking the other pocket I found a matching hat! And it is adorable. So with the hat and rain coat together can you help me date this.

The label inside is Barometer Reg Sept 6 1938. Styled for All weather fashions. Acetate lined and full sleeves and tiny shoulder pads

Oh the umbrella is a vintage one just for props. ( And I would love to use it but don't want to ruin it)

That is a great set Pauline! Any idea on the date? I think late 30s and then wartime 40s, then 50s......confused? Yes!

It has me confused too Sue the date on the label makes me wonder if it early 40's The hat just makes me think maybe late 30's like the label. Then the pink acetate lining makes me wonder again could it be 50's

Oh and it does have very small shoulder pads in it. I think I will go with late 30's early 40s

I love surprises like that! I found a vinyl rainbonnet in a pocket...but that's the most exciting thing i found. old tissues aplenty, though!

I am voting for late 1940s - early 1950s. It reminds me a bit of raincoat and hat sets you see in movies in the early 50s, like Singing in the Rain. The hat is a juliette cap style, but they did come out with that style in the 1940s, but the shapeless raincoat with full sleeves would have to be later, I think. If you cut off the bottom half of the raincoat you would have a swing jacket style, so I think it fits in with that c. 1948 - 1952 era.
