I found a few 50s Mademoiselles last week, was enjoying one last night and could not believe that ad!

And look at the hangtag that is still attached to my top!

Neat, Lizzie!

accumulating magazines definitely pays off!

The ad also gives a good idea about how the larger armholes of the sweater work out when on a body.

I have found ads in my mags for stuff other VFG members have, but never for anything I have :(

How cool that you have this ad Lizzie!

Oh! That's so neat!

I agree, Bonnie--- I think that would be a fabulous section! I wish I'd kept pics of that Sears Kerrybrook "juicy fruit" striped shirtwaist dress I had a couple years ago that someone (maybe scott??) had an original ad or catalog pic for

Great example too of how manufacturers don't necessarily keep their labels up to date, either through graphics, as in this one where the woman depicted has a hair style that predates the sweater by a decade, or typeface. The graphics and typeface are great helps to dating an associated garment but can't be relied upon.

Yes, that 40s girl on the hangtag could really mess one up! Another red herring is using patent dates. Patent dates on items can be for all sorts of things, and it's usually NOT the garment itself. It's usually a finishing process or construction technique.

I changed my photos of this sweater to better tie in with the ad. All I needed was a basket of apples!
