I love these chokers but don\'t know anything about them!!!!

Hi folks!

I wonder if anyone has any info on these chokers?

I've got quite a few and also some bracelets in the same style.

I think my older sister told me years ago that they are 70s, but my memory is going!:violins:

Is there a name for them? Where would one have bought these from - any particular shop or department store?

If anyone can remember what they cost and between which years they were popular I would be over the moon to find out!

I've got quite a few as I've been picking them up whenever I've seen them for about 15 years now.

Many thanks,

Roxy:hiya::kiss2:

Hi!

The beads are what I've always referred to as decal beads.

They are a ceramic bead with flower transfers on them.

I think that's right anyway!

Someone has one (similar to the first one I've pictured) on eBay and they've described it as "A genuine 1970’s enamelled and hand painted bead choker/necklace with faux pearls and diamonds".

Hi, Roxy!

I'm fairly certain you wouldn't be able to use diamonds in the description/title unless they are (even if you put faux before diamond). Are there rhinestones in the round silver colored discs on the black one?

They do appear to be 70's and enameled - perhaps even cloisonne but I can't make out the finer details with the scanned pics.

I would title them something like

Vintage 70's (black or blue) Enameled (or cloisonne if they are) Bead Faux Pearl Choker Necklace

They're very pretty! Good luck!

Pretty chokers! I can't tell from your pix, but they do look like cloisonne enamelling... If there are gold "borders" around the flowers, etc, then it is definitely cloisonne (the gold "lines" are actually gold wires that are used to divide the sections of colored enamel).

I'm not familiar with this style, but I do know there was a big influx of Chinese jewelry (TONS of bangle bracelets!) in the mid- to late 70s after Nixon reached detente with China and trade opened up.
