I missed the fur topics?

I have been afraid of vintage fur pieces. Mainly due to identifying them. Also, because of the regulations on different or exotic types. Is there a really good guide or what would you all suggest for my research? I found a sweet piece that is made of suede and just a fur collar. I think it is divine. Is there a vintage site member that carries a variety of furs online? Would love to look.
Thanks, all the things to reconsider in the future.
Regards!!!

there have been a few threads here about selling fur...you might want to try searching some of the older threads, they may prove helpful for you.

also, check out the fur resource here (vfg, that is) lots of information for you to peruse.

not sure if we have a fur sales specialist here actually

Def make yourself familiar with the usual fur types (mink, fox, skunk, muskrat, squirrel) that you'll come by, and those that are naughty no-nos (leopard, monkey, etc).

The best piece of advice is that of any vint piece you'd buy, condition is key! Fur is a skin with hair, basically, and can react the same as any bit of skin will, it can dry, deteriorate, crack, etc. I put every piece of fur through three tests before I'll take it home; shake, squeeze and tug. If it sheds like a hound dog, cracks when you squeeze it or tears like tissue when you tug, it's lost, not worth any money.

There are several members who donate such lost furs to animal sanctuaries, for baby critter beds. At least then it has some re-use.

Oh hatfeathers,
Just looked at your site. Just love those pictures for the year of vintage, adorable!!! I have seen some great pics of my mom in the 50s-60s but she would hog tie me. :) Many regards & much thanks.
