It's me again,
I found this item at an estate sale. It appears to be older, but I'm not sure. There are no labels or tags on it. It looks to be a nylon or polyester fabric. The name Marc is signed throughout the dress. I don't know if it is a dress or a nightgown. Any help would be appreciated. I did some research, but didn't find anything. I wonder if it could be a Marc Jacobs, but didn't find anything to support that.
I am attaching pics that will follow.
Thanks!
Victoria

It appears to be 70's to me, perhaps late 60s. Marc Jacobs was born in 1963, so it couldn't be him. I am not sure when his line started but I believe it was the 90s???

Hopefully an expert will come along and give you more information.

I like it, it's really pretty.

The style could be early '70s but it's not very well made - it looks like the neck and arm holes are just top stitched and have no facings - so I wonder if it's more recent, perhaps '90s? In any case, it's home made. The fabric looks like it could be a nylon or polyester knit which supports early '70s too as modern synthetics are more sophisticated.

Is there any sign of a button or fastening at the top of the front opening? I wonder if it had a hook/eye or button and it's on back to front. That neckline is super-low and the front doesn't sit well. Does either side have any bust shaping eg darts? That will help.

I also think it is the same signature. Msgrossmyer, thanks for that link. Nicole, I didn't find any darts for bust, no facings and no sign that a hook was ever in place. I agree, it looks poorly made. I think I will save the fabric and use it in a future sewing project. I appreciate the help from everyone.

That's where I had seen that signature before! This looks like a nightgown from the 70s and the Miss Elaine connection confirms that.

Yes, you all are right about the Marc signature. I have come across many such pieces in lingerie; lounge robes and nightgowns. Some are Miss Elaine but some are not. I have one now in fact that I need to list. The ones I have found all date to the 1960's to 70's. This one appears to have either just worn out at the edges and been repaired sloppily by the previous owner or perhaps sleeves were removed. I just remember I do have a lavendar purple robe now in my shop by Miss Elaine - Marc.
