I need HELP for Christmas parties...

I wonder if anyone out there can help?? I don't usually go to xmas parties, for a multitude of reasons, but am planning to buck the trend and go this year....but same old, same old..what to wear...

what l wuold love to do and never have as yet...l am looking for a vintage dress as l rarely find one to fit...a LBD would be great but l would consider most anything. Troible is l am currently a uk size 16, having lost 20lbs over the last 12 weeks, and am trying to lose another 14 before xmas....

so l am in double trouble, my size is changing and so my shape... but as a vintage queen, l would love to promote the gear and wear it this year to tweo christmas parties...l'm not a fru-fru type, so no frills please...something elegant...l love purple and red and black..together or separate...and would like a cocktail style...any decade, though l love 40's- 50's and l love crepe, chiffon....but honest l Would consider almost anything, so l guess l'm asking does anyone have anything Uk size 16-ish....

and in case you havent seen any pics of me, l'm 5'9" tall, sallow skin colouring with dark brown hair and eyes.....do you want my measurements...?

willing to take a peek at anything....l have big arms at the mo, or at least l think so....

l'm SOOOOO embarrassed, but these are my measurements are approx and reducing by the day...40-41 bust/waist 32.5/hips a ginourmous 43...l should be happy, 12 weeks ago l was 44/36/47....duh!! this is my problem!!!


oh and my only requirement is a low/scopped/V neckline of some sort...a distraction technique...LOL!!

.....formerly a stick insect until at 34, l gave up smoking had two kids and then began to comfort eat...as l'm approcaching my 50th in 2008, l thought l would take myself in hand....why am l droning on...cos l'm sooo embarrassed...
 
Now that's what I call thinking ahead! No cocktail in larger sizes, but I'll keep an eye out for you on my rounds (that I swear to my husband I'm not doing! and really shouldn't be doing, but I can't help...)
 
thank you Deborah and Hatty...... actually its not ME thinking a head really, its that these parties are booked sooo in advance, l am forced to think abuot it and so the bah humbug in me said ok...now l'm thinking, its that LD ..lve had forever or perhaps a vintage number.....

no worries, l am at work, obviously not doing any....LOL as l am on the computer when l should be recieving visitors to the museum...but as its been a fine day (it always is when l'm at work!! doh)..so am in no rush...and l need ot get money together too...l didnt work august so no september pay packet of any value..!!

so take your time..one question though...what is the neck detail? beads it looks like?

Sara, the weekend has turned into the week (sorry!) but I haven't forgotten. Son is at school for his first full ay today so I am ALONE until 3pm (weird!!) - I am almost overwhelmed with the opportunity to do stuff ... and don't know which of the million things I had put off until this day finally came to do first! :duh:

how are you feeling without yur usual appendage?? its awfull at first you will be worse than he....thats for sure....and l have neever managed to egt organised...and use the time well, its school run time before you know it and can switch off that tele....LOL
 
If you might be losing weight i might focus on amazing accessories and get the dress a little closer to the holidays. Unless you pick a wrap front style that you may be able to rearrange differently or easier to move a button rather than resconstruct a whole dress.
 
yes l have been thinking that...perhaps l am being a bit premature...assuming l take more off and l keep it off....first time lve changed my eating habits since 1982, our wedding and l took of 10lbs, now its more like 10 stones...anyway..l hope to drop 14-20lb more by year end....

l do love that purple dress though!!its greta to start having options again..appreciate the comments..
