Hi everybody

I have been asked to look after a large estate of designer clothes of a friend of mine, I have photographed the clothing etc and i uploaded it in a shopify account, however, I am a sitting duck when it comes to knowing the value of the clothing, all designer brand: pierre balmain, lanvin, gucci, dior, jean patou, etc , if anyone could help me out with some professional and fair advise, I would be forever grateful, thanks

Hi Prulleke, welcome to the VFG.

What they're worth will depend on age, condition and demand - you have a lot of pieces, you might benefit from expert advice if there is someone who can come and view the pieces. A professional appraiser can help. An easier option is to look for similar pieces online and see what people are selling them for. Closed ebay auctions may help but it can be hard to price as you have to know what to compare it with. What you price it at will also depend on whether you want to sell it all quickly, or are happy to take years to find the right buyers.

It looks like you're in Byron Bay - a little far for me to travel but there are Sydney and Brisbane experts who you could consult. Auctioneers who specialise in designer fashion have appraisers on file too. You could try Lawson's.

Isaw that the prefered way to communicate is by posting images, however, there are so many but here a few, thank you, year of make would be very valuable to know as well.

Nicole has given good advice. We aren't able to give valuations here, as Nicole says, there are many factors that affect price, but seeing what others sell similar items for online is a good start.

I've removed the link to your shop, as our forum rules don't allow links to selling venues from our Registered Guests. However you can upload your photos directly to the forum, if you have more questions about particular items.

Thanks so much for the response, I saw that my last post generated multiple copy's of the items, sorry, don't know how it happened and don't know how to rectify it

No problem! You have some beautiful pieces, and I think we'll enjoy the eye candy! But it's easier to answer dating questions piece by piece, so feel free to start a new thread for items you want to know more about.

Ruth, I don't know what's going on then: each pic of the red suit is displaying seven times and the others (I won't count them all) are also in multiples. If they're displaying okay for you, I don't know what's happening.

Your first piece is couture and the third piece with the circles and patent leather trim is very nice - those two are definitely worth getting a professional appraisal done by someone who can handle them, and maybe the Jean Patou too, but lbd's aren't as desirable as First Dibs curators like to pretend… The other items you can probably evaluate yourself from sales results as boutique and pret a porter items are more common. Nice haul

Hi Jonathan
Thanks so much for your expertise advise, if I may, I will post some other items tomorrow to have a look at, to get a better idea as to what it is I am storing here, thanks again
