I need help with a Mary Quant dress, quite a coincidence looking at the post below.

A linen or linen blend 1960s dress with a Mary Quant, London, Made by Noeleen King. I have posted the label on the label thread as well.

It's THE Mary Quant label, but what would be a ballpark pricing. And who is Noeleen?
Thanks, Kelly

Here is the label and here is the dress.

Hi there! Fab dress! I've not seen a label with Noeleen on before, but I would assume it was another link-up to a manufacturer in the USA. She did link ups with J C Penney and Youthquake, so it's possibly this is another one like that. It does look very 60s, the length of the skirt does suggest pre-1965 but I'm not sure when she REALLY started to make it big on the international stage. That's a modification of a 'good' MQ label though, rather than the cheaper - more mass-produced Ginger Group. The best label was gold on black or vice-versa, and then there are these and the black and white ones. I'll go away and check my reference books to see if I can find out any more for you.

I've never paid more than £50 for a Mary, the eBay search is flooded with KWS, make-up and those flipping waterproof ponchos - so you really need to emphasise that it's the real deal in your title/subtitle.

I am such a nerd...

i just did a currency conversion...your $50 pounds is about $95 US dollars.

I know what you mean Liz, I am sick of the "so mary quant!" on every simple 60s or early 70s dress too when they could be missing out on a tighter reference to what they have...only making mary quant searchers disenchanted.

Would $85 be too much for the Mall?

I want to sell it as quickly as possible yet not undersell myself too much.

No, $85 is not too much. As Liz pointed out, this is the "good" MQ label, and it is a label that you really do not see a lot of. I have one in my collection (the silver one on the resource) which is 66-67ish. Yours really does look a bit earlier, unless it was made for the American market. They were made a bit longer until the late 60s.

A wonderful find!
