This is the the 4th dress I am asking for help on. I hope that it is ok that I am asking about multiple dresses. I wish I knew it all but I don't.
This dress stumps me because it has two hooks and then a long metal zipper down the front that goes almost down to the bottom. I have not seen this before. Based on the construction the zipper loooks like it was there since the garment was originally made. The bottom has been shortened and hand stitched. The rest of the dress is machine stitched. I think it might be satin and lace. The face side is glossy. The back side is dull.
I think this may be and evening gown from the 40s but I could be totally wrong which is why I am asking. The shoulders could even make this dress from the 80s but the hooks and metal zipper would not be there and I am not sure that this would elsewise fit an 80s evening gown.
Can you please tell me what your expertise tells you about the dating of this dress, the fabric, if there is a name for that full length frontal zipper, and what is the name for the split sleeves.
You wonderful trade members may be thinking where did this newbie member come from all of a sudden with these pieces? I hope I am not imposing. I do appreciate all of your help.
