I need some help dating fabric...40\'s???
I usually don't buy fabric but I picked up some at a recent estate sale that I think might be 40's but I'm not sure.
The first is a red and cream what feels like silk but is a bit "crepey" (I think I invented a new word . The edge says "Silks Beau Monde". It would not burn it just blackened when held over the flame. It is 36" wide and it had a price tag still pinned on it. 3 yds for $1.50 .
The next is a lovely green & cream. It is so soft and silky but also has a bit of crepe feel to it. It would burn but immediately burned out leaving just a bit of ash. It is also 36" and was priced the same as the above.
The third is gray with white spiral pattern. It burns but burned out immediately leaving a bit of ash. It has a bit of stretch to it and is textured like crepe. It is 36" wide.
The following are both silk, I believe. The fibers curled as they burned. They are both 39" wide. I'm stumped on dating these. 60's??
Thanks in advance for your wonderful help!!
