I think this is neat

It's possible Mary, but if it is, the buyer did a LOT of restoration. The beading was shot at the shoulders and in a bad, bad way at the hips. And there were holes. So I don't think so.

That's amazing Hollis - as you say, the Beene's not that surprising but the '20s dress! I suspect someone's fixed it up, but the cape suggests that it's another. What are the odds?

I can count on two hands the number of times I've seen the same dress (pre'60s). I've currently got two dresses in the same fabric (late '40s) and I've had a third before - because I buy locally, all I can suppose is that it was a popular dressmaking fabric. They've all been different styles, but all from around the same time.
