The 1940s - the shirred square neckline, the side metal zip, the natural waist, crepe and the fringe! all put it in that decade. There are others here who can narrow it down a bit, bit I am thinking mid decade. Are there shoulder pads? I have seen the fringe dresses with big shoulder pads in other colors, as well. Memorably a white one.

I agree with Hollis mid 40s. Adrian did high end versions of this look in 44.

Thanks for the speedy reply. The small satin pad that is exposed on the ripped shoulder is the only shoulder pad.
