I went to a fabulous estate sale the other day of a woman who used to be a Rockette. Not quite sure if she was a Rockette or a Missouri Rocket; what the Rockettes were called between 1925 and 1932 before they relocated from St. Louis to New York; but she was one or the other.

I was hoping to find some wonderful costuming, but either the dancers weren't allowed to keep theirs or the family took them before the sale. I did get a pair of her tap shoes and ballet flats along with about 15 pairs of some vintage shoes.

I also got some clothing items. Some had labels and some were probably homemade as she had a sewing room and boxes of patterns. Is homemade the best term or custom sewn? I never know what term to use. One of the dresses I got is this heavy black satin sheath with a lace over dress. The over dress has a black satin ribbon circling near the bottom part of the dress.

Then there are the shoes. The first pair is hard to read, but I think it says Verite Footwear, New York. They are blue and green satin with silver and gold leather trim.

The final item for now is this pair of Palter DeLiso New York City sling back pumps with open toe and ankle strap ties.

You all are so good and dating vintage and I hope you can help me with these and maybe any descriptive words. Thanks.

No label in the black silk sheath dress with lace overdress? It looks like a sack back style from 1957. The purple platoforms are c. 1948-1952, but those black and green mules are a bit of a head scratcher. My initial thought was late 1930s but they are more likely late 1940s.

Thanks, Jonathan. There isn't a label in the black dress. Pretty sure it was seamstress sewn. I've never heard the tern "sack back" Off to google and see what can find.
