ID help on Vintage Fur Type

Hello
I acquired a jet black vintage 3/4 length fur coat at an auction. I did check out the link with the fur IDs and am leaning toward mouton or sheared lamb of some kind but am not confident. It is short, has a nap, super soft (no guard hairs), has black bakelite buttons and the label is Brodey-Draimin Furriers Toronto Hamilton Kitchener (Canada). Can anyone help for fur ID and possible era? With measurements, I estimate a size 10-Medium. No size noted on label. Thank you for any help!

Hi there. Nice fur from the past you have there. Your coat looks like it dates to the later 30s and it looks like rabbit that was sheared and dyed to look like seal.
At the time seal fur was very popular but more expensive than other fur types so furriers decided to make other fur types look like seal and charge a more attractive price while making up nicknames that made the other fur types still seem like seal.
Here's an ad below from 1938 which shows a fur coat with a similar silhouette to your coat. If you look at the description to the right you will see the fur coat was nicknamed Leyson Seal (Dyed Coney). Leyson Seal was not really seal and coney was just a nickname for rabbit which equaled dyed rabbit made to look like seal.

Thank you so much! A friend had *guessed* seal. So I guess she is (nearly) right! This coat is in AMAZING condition if made in the late 30s! Wow. I appreciate your time.
