Identify Women's hat/fashion from the 1800's?

I discovered this photo in the course of my family research. It is one of two women in my family, and I believe if I can find out the year it was taken it will tell me which of the women it is. I'm guessing that the hat is pretty specific to a certain era. Can anyone identify either the clothing or the hat and narrow this photo down to a range of years?

Nice photo.Is that Grinnell, Iowa? The hat is mid 1890s, say 94 - 96. The bodice might be 189o - 93 ish. She may well have bought a new hat for her portrait.
