Identifying age and provenance of cape/cloak

Hi - I bought an old? cape/cloak in London's Kensington High Street Market in 1992. It is black with red lining of same fabric. The label is Topset. It is very heavy and looks like garbedine.Label says 65% Trevira 35% Cotone. The labels are quyte worn and yellowed. It has goldchain links to fasten. Any ideas how old it might be? Thanks Bangles

The name sounds pretty 70s, as does the style. Fabric content labels were a legal requirement in the UK from 1976 (although of course some were used anyway before that depending on the manufacturer's inclination). Hard to say without pictures though, so just a guess - sounds cool though!

I recently sold a man's cape with a Carnaby Street label--black wool, red lining, gold chain clasp. No fabric ID labels however. Mine was definitely purchased in the 60s; I bought it from original owner.

Thanks to all who answered query about cape. I have very poor eyesight and toningt when my husband was taking a photo to send he found another label. We will try to post the the pics, but the label says: Made in Italy for Dunhill Tailors of New York. What do you think?? regards.
