I was silly.

We signed up for a trial on a new internet provider. And now with this browser, I can't get around!

I got here by clicking on the link from the VFG events calendar that i did a web search for. When I go to the main homepage, the little blinky boxes with the submenus don't show up....AAAAUUUUGGHHH!!!

There must be some preference on IE that I have screwed up. I abled pop ups...but still don't know what i am doing wrong....

(and I do KNOW for certain that it isn't this site..it is definitely my new software because if i log back into my old program.....i can get into it fine.)

Any fellow/sister IE users have any tips?

Chris

Yikes! I don't know, but I sympathize!!

My guess is that your new IP reset something in IE, and it's messing everything up as a result.

Are you having problems with any other sites?

My other internet provider doesn't use IE I don't believe. I am on Netscape now. I allowed pop ups just in case. When i went to my mother's house over a holiday they had the computer with so many restrictions i couldn't get U2Us. I am embarrassed because i am usually more computer efficient than most about these things.

Any site that has pull down menus and things like that, i can't see that either, so its not just this site.

I'm guessing that the problem is:

Your new IP has changed the settings (or for some other reason) isn't allowing one or more types of code. Perhaps Javascript. Special types of code create things like drop down menus and blinky images. I can't be more specific though, because my programming knowledge is limited to HTML and snippets that other people write but I can insert into my pages. :BAGUSE:

And it is just a guess. Maybe Deb can give you more specific advice.

By the way, I didn't realize that the VFG homepage has blinky images. My computer shows them as static!

No..they don't really blink...the left hand purple links just change when you see all those little sub menus. I think that's what i meant.

The only one that changes is the "hair" link

Oh, it just sunk in that you are using Netscape. I know that some people love it, but I have never been able to get it to work right. For me, it always runs very slow and doesn't display pages properly. Part of the problem, I think, is that most websites are designed for IE since it is the dominant browser. Most people who create a website don't check to make sure it is compatible with a variety of browsers.

I deleted Netscape from my computer a few years ago and have never gone back. At the time I was using it to check site compatibility, but I got fed up with it.

Laura

Oh, wow! I never realized that those images are links! DUH!!!

I understand what you mean about the link menu on the left changing.

Laura

Yep...all those pics lead to something ;)

I guess i will go back to my other ISP until i iron this out...I am probably missing some setting
