If the \"Vintage Genie\" visited....

....you one day and granted you one wish only, whatever piece of vintage apparel or accessory you wanted, what would you choose?

Would it be any piece from a favorite designer; a specific style, regardless of maker; a very specific piece you've eyed with envy; a piece of jewelry.... What would you wish for?

I have to think on this one myself a while--there are so many things I want!!!!!

Just ONE? That's a tough decision!

I think I would ask the Vintage Genie for a wildly beautiful Pucci dress, in my size of course.

For me, a perfectly fit full skirt shirt waist with cuffed elbow length sleeves and a nice collar, maybe with a subtle print and a few prong set rhinestones scattered over the bodice.

For my biz, a pair of super old Levis like 39Mopar found, or a Fortuny gown, so I could sell them and make enough $$ to fund my other biz's projects!

I would like a fabulous Adrian suit and a pair of vintage brown alligator shoes that FIT, match my handbag and don't hurt my bunion or my hammertoe. Well - I can dream!

I'd like a Fortuny Delphos in gunmetal grey silk and perfect condition.

Or failing that - a Dior New Look suit from the original 1947 collection.

Actually what I'd really like is one of Schiaparelli's surrealist gowns from the '30s, maybe the lobster dress that Wallis Simpson wore, or the one that is printed to look like the fabric is all ripped.

that's a tough one.

for me to wear, maybe a really, really great adrian suit. i'd say gown, except the chances of me having anywhere to wear it are slim.

but perhaps even more than that, a great elizabeth hawes. i've had adrians, so got to examine them, but never a hawes and how i'd love to!

... or a charles james.

okay, i can't decide. are you sure we only get *one* wish from the vintage genie? :singing:

I think I would like to have the sexy Roger Vivier Dior stilettos I stupidly sold come back to me...

Hmmm, seriously though, one wish is hard. I already have my Adrian suit that may still fit me so I think I would go with a Schiaparelli. Nicole has really good taste!

Well, it IS so hard to pick just one, so the vintage genie has advised she would--should she visit--grant us each three wishes....

First on my list is this dress I GAVE, yes, GAVE away to charity when we moved--this was before I started selling vintage and before it was really "in," but I'd been collecting & wearing it for a few years. Never has a piece of vintage apparel fit me better (I'm a petite size, so hard to find the shorter-length bodices and skirts) or felt so good on. By the time we moved, it didn't fit any longer, but by God if that were still in my closet, I would get back into it, come hell or high water.

Alas, the photo quality isn't very good, but this was a red velvet 1950's full-skirt dress with surplice bodice and shelf-type bust. It fit me perfectly, I wore it to a party for work one time, and people literally gushed over it. One of my co-workers almost clobbered her fiance', as he was "smitten" with me in the dress, according to her. Of course, the genie would also have to give me back the body I had at age 36 so I could wear the dress again.... Does that count as 1 or 2 wishes? If it's 2, then my last would be a pair of 1950s Springolator spike heels in red to match the dres! Or in gold, or black patent. Then I still need my youthful feet in order to wear them.... It's a bitch gettin' old!

Lucy, I have your curvy black Ceil in stock--if it's your size!
