I\'m stuck on this skirt....

This skirt is so pretty, but I'm not sure I'm portraying it well.
Here it is....

Not much I could do with a straight skirt for exciting pictures...so I'll need some good keywords, HELP!?

What could the age be? It's full length/maxi with a kick pleat up the back. It closes up the center back with a heavy metal zipper and a large slide hook.
The fabric is a satiny brocade, I think, the design doesn't reverse on the back side. The back is gray with bands of yellowish color, and the pattern is visible but not presentable.

Anyone getting a spark?

I almost bought a long skirt this week like that in black (didn't fit).

I would throw out the "maxi skirt" (well..still put in description) and because of the top darts, say hello to "long, floor/ankle length pencil skirt". Unlike many maxiskirts, this one has a banded waistline and darts that would really appeal to gals who love pencil skirts because of the shaping, and are ready to trade them in for somethign apropriate for evening.

ooh jenn that's lovely! the close up's great, looks quite oriental.
it looks like little sequins in blue (guess that's just the design). no idea what you should call it, but i'd say evening or cocktail skirt? (is there such a thing?!)
very nice!

I like that Harriet,... "cocktail skirt".

Actually, i do have a long skirt with embroidery running down it.

Sure, maxiskirt might be the proper term, but evening wear can be naturally floor length and it removes the preconception some folks have against maxiskirts/maxidresses. (skirt prejudice LOL)

Very pretty and agree with Chris on the "maxiskirt" term.

Late 50s/early 60s? For some reason this reminds me of something that would've been worn to one of the White House shindigs just before Kennedy was inagurated.

Thanks guys! I feel better about it now....I've stared at it for quite a while and wasn't getting any vibe from it.
Could be because I've been burned by cheongsams before (market flood!) and stray away from most things Asian.
It just gave me that dreaded feeling of getting lost in a sea of cheapo cheongsams and Asian skirts so why bother.

I'll give it a try, it IS pretty...and pink....and floral!

Well, there you go Pink Floral Brocade Cocktail Evening Dress Skirt!:clapping:

I know what you mean. There is a lot out there, but i think this is different enough. I would wear it with a simple gold understated and classic in lines shell/tank top type of thing....nothing with any fussiness that would take away from it.
