Had a customer ask about the style of shoes to go with this 40s dress

And I am having a hard time finding any, as I have none! Don't need to be actual wedding shoes, just to give her an idea of shape

TIA :)

Here are a few pics from the 1940s section of Fashion Footwear 1800-1970 by Desire Smith - taken by my grandson, David. Not sure if the styles are exactly right for the dress ????

These were late 30's wedding shoes until they were dyed black. I'm sure this style would have been worn at the beginning of the 40's too:

One thing that was very popular at the time for wedding shoes were Daniel Green boudoir slippers. Usually of satin with peep toes and cling backs, but also closed backs, with ruffles of satin on them. They show up on eBay every once in a while. However, the platform style is fine with the wedding dress you have because it looks like its post war and the platform was really not popular until post war, expecially in England. In fact I don't think there were any platform soles in England until 1947ish.

Considering how much material went into making platforms, it makes sense they weren't available until post war.

Not cling-backs, but here is a pair of satin Daniel Green shoes that Jonathan is referring to taken from the same section mentioned above:

I meant sling-backs and typed cling-backs! Oh god -- I don't want to start a trend of everyone calling them cling backs just because of a typo!!!!
