In Honor of Veterens day...

Patentleathershoes

VFG Veteran
VFG Past President
I am getting out my stash of WWII photos. (it is not humanly possible to scan them all - there are too many). But throughout the day i will scan some of my favorites. Or maybe just random selections is mroe like it

They are very special to me, because the story is about two brothers, and my grandfather and my great uncle (his twin brother) served together, so the theme appealed to me very much/

So pull up a cozy chair..

Chris, thanks for posting. That last pic with the little child is so poignant.

This is the year of the Veteran and I hope everyone takes several moments
today to reflect on those that served during the past two WW's, and also
the other wars and on-going conflicts now.

I jsut put the next three on the scanner at once. I didnt retouch or correct one...

And if anyone has an special requests...i.e., wants to see more planes, or more buildings, or stuff at camp, or any other particular thing, LMK. i think i have a lot of leisure pics too

those are beautiful, thanks for sharing. I love seeing them. What is it about the old pics that makes every single one look like they came from a fashion shoot? I certainly dont mean to compare fashion with war but you know what I mean, everything looks so great, like they took hours to "style" the photo but yet all are taken candidly. Wonderful photos.

The gent that took these pics had been a photographer before he was enlisted. There is a whole series with the two guys posting near the German plane...there has got to be at least a dozen. My husband said "these guys had way too much time on their hands" based on the amount of leisure photos taken LOL

I agree though, everyone also was more dressed up back then so folks looked a lot more polished than the slobs we are today if you caught us "off guard" :) I am not saying everyone is a slob, but most of us would certainly want to be warned if a camera was involved. I remember my late great-aunt who would always have the ritual of reapplying her lipstick (even though she already had plenty) before she would let you take her photo.
