In the 1940s, how usual is rayon jersey?

Wondering what to do w/ my rayon jersey blouse/ top. I bought it because I thought rayon jersey is an unusual 1940s fabric. Originally I thought that might be chopped off from a whole dress, and it does have home made stitching on the hem.

It's not unusual. It feels lovely. What are you asking? If you are going to need to wash it and it has more than one color, you will need Synthrapol and Color Catchers - nothing bleeds like rayon jersey with the dyes used in the 40s!

  3. I love '40s rayon jersey: it's a beautiful material and yes, thankfully not uncommon. It goes get a bit fragile over the years though and if it has any holes, I recommend that you repair them because small holes can quickly become bigger, and more myriad holes.
