Info On Mollie Parnis 40\'s Dresses please

Hi!!

I'm trying to find early to mid 40's dresses that have sold by Mollie Parnis but when I search on ebay or on the web I find nothing older than mid to late 50's.

anyone have any idea how much aprox. a silk mint condition early 40's Parnis dress with matching belt would go for? Or where i could get an idea?

I was lucky enough to buy an estate of a lady who had tons of silk early 40's dresses she never wore. Some were by Parnis.

Thanks so much.

Can you post a pic? I haven't seen a Parnis dress that early before. I think she was one of the designers that started designing under her own name during the war, but the earliest I have seen her stuff is post war.

Hi Lauren, Great to see you on the boards! I wish I could help but like Jonathan I have never seen a Mollie Parnis that old. However you would think a very early Parnis in great condition would be quite rare and should fetch a tidy sum. Would love to see some photos and perhaps a lable for the resource!

It is a late 40s dress, probably 1948-49. I am not quite sure when she started under her own label but it may have been postwar. It is still an early Parnis.

i've got a late '40s parnis. beautiful skirt/jacket suit set of violet silk. i'll post when i get a chance. i'd also be interested in estimations of value.

cheers :)

The date on the label resource is a bit vague, as I've never been able to find the date that "Parnis-Livingston" became "Mollie Parnis." So if anyone has that information, I'd appreciate having it for the label resource.
