I found a beautiful vintage appearing undergarment or dress yesterday at my local thrift. I am curious to know if anyone can tell me anything about it. I am new to your wonderful in formative site. Thank you kindly

Thank you so much for your time. The photos you sent looks quite similar to my garment. I am hoping to post it for sale with better photos once I have some idea what I have.& It is beautiful and in excellent condition. Your information is priceless. I can only imagine the life of the woman that wore this finely made dress.

Not to be disagreeable, but I did want to add that Happy Gardener...you should take that screen shot (about tea gowns) text with a huge scoop of salt. It is rife with errors and misinformation. I am not trying to start an argument, but I do not want our visitors to be mislead.

Cin, where did you get that screen shot? Just wondering.

I posted the dress on ebay today to see if anyone would be interested. Thank you Cindy for the information. I am hoping that I did not post any misinformation-I do not believe I did as the information you sent seemed very similar to other posts. It seems to be basic information. Perhaps Barbara could let the readers know what is considered in error as ...most of all I am interested in knowing the history of such a garment since this is my first post. Thank you,
Linda

My name is either Cin or Cinthia. Thanks!

Dear Happy Gardener,

Oh, you are fine. You did not post any mis-information. Perhaps I was not clear. I apologize if that was what you thought I meant. It was the screen shot that was posted that I feel has errors in it.

As for what is incorrect, pretty much every sentence in that short paragraph.

By the way, you have a dress, not a gown, and it is not specifically for tea time wearing.

Happy Gardener, you did nothing wrong. I was the one who supposedly did, got spanked for it too! lol

Info as to where the link came from has been provided, see above.
