Information on a Rosita Contreras dress

Hi, having recently purchased the following dress, I was wondering if anyone could assist me in dating it(perhaps 1950's) as well as in sourcing some information on its designer.
Its's by Rosita Contreras, who I believe to have been a fairly well known italian designer, although not very prolific, as I believe she died quite early.
It's in a cream silk with beautiful cutouts/appliqueed/embroidered decoration(as you may be able to tell, I have no idea what it's actually called!).
Thanks in advance for any help available!

What a gorgeous dress. I wonder if it might not be 1940's, the zip looks quite chunky for a 50's dress, although by the shape of the garment it could be either era. It looks like soutache embroidery over sheer panels.
Can you have a look if the hem has been taken up? as the proportions don't look quite right to me, I think the plain part should match the length of the segment near the waist if not more.

~ Rosita Contreras a 'haute couture dressmaker' had 'costumes' (designer evening dresses) displayed at an exhibition (Feb.2010) held at 'Castello Torrechiara' dedicated to Renata Tibaldi (Italian lirico-spinto soprano popular in the post-war period). ~

More to look up, BRB

can't find out much more :(

Hi, I'm so sorry for the late reply(I'm the first to admit I need to better my response times for messages)!
Thanks ever so much for your replies!
Ikranieri - I'll definitely have to have a look through those links, I really appreciate it!
Pinkcoke - Thanks! The dress arrived a couple of weeks ago and upon inspection, it hem had been unevenly cut :( I've had to remove another centimetre and fold 1 or two more under, when hemming.
It does however have a beautiful fit to it!

You're welcome Lily, it's a lovely dress, worth hemming properly so it can be worn again. Unfortunately many dresses of this age have been cut shorter to suit current fashions for a shorter length so it's lucky to find them just turned up if the length was changed a lot.
