I'm very curious to know what sweater the President is wearing in this picture? Anyone have any ideas???

I would say that Ronald Reagan is wearing a V necked cardigan with faux-suede patches. Curious if there is a particular name for this garment in the U.S. but I'm not aware of one.

That's a very big - and very friendly - dog. Wonder who the shoe in the foreground belong too? Nancy perhaps? It's a very informal shot. He was president at the time it was taken?

UPDATE: I found this pic, which seems to be taken from the same event, inside a helicopter in '85. Amazing. It's his dog Lucky, a Bouvier de Flandres.

As its 85 and Ronald and Nancy had money, its probably real suede patches. Not sure what you mean by what sweater he would be wearing - do you mean brand? It's a cardigan, which is a conservative style at the time - Mr Rogers wears them in his neighbourhood... The suede adds a slight southwestern flair, but the style is still something an older man would wear -- it's not hip for 1985, so brand is almost irrelevant. It was probably something sold through Neiman Marcus or Brooks Brothers.

Pure speculation based on looks but that might be a Burberry's coat behind President Reagan's seat in the pic Nicole showed.

President Reagan did wear cardigans and he liked to ride horses so I can see him being into that bit of southwestern mixed with conservative flair. In fact he rode a horse in some of his filming as an actor before he went into office. His wife had her own designer named David Hayes who also designed for a few celebrities. Although, I do not think that designer had any relation to the president's clothing I think Nancy probably had some influence on what her husband wore. :)

I like it and the president's dog. Good luck finding similar pieces. Maybe search for vintage suede cardigans.
