Is it legal to sell this fur hat?

HI,

Without knowing what type of fur it is, and not actually having it hand, that is hard to answer. It might not be an endangered species, and may even be a more common fur that has been dyed to mimic a more exotic species. The fur seems bit long in the "nap" for the endangered big cats. I am only adding something that happened to me years ago.

The last time I dealt in any endangered was a 1930's leopard cape, over 12 years ago, and an known authority in the high end vintage world helped me by saying it could be sold if you did NOT sell it for resale. That is, it could only be sold once, from you to the new owner. The new owner could not resell it or buy it with the intent to do so. Also, it could not be shipped out of the USA. I had to make up a signed contract of intent, and then I was allowed to sell it to a private buyer.

I am curious to know what the current laws are concerning this too!

Sorry I couldn't really help...

I don't know much about furs, but I agree with Barbara that the long outer hairs look awfully long and wispy for the endangered cats--whose fur is, I think, usually more plush looking. Are there any tags on your hat? Are you sure it is genuine fur and not a very good synthetic? I'm sure you must be sure from handling it, but of course, in photos, it's awfully difficult to tell! I've seen some synthetic furs that have very difficult to tell from real.
