Is this a \"Cuban\" heel?

The shoes are most definitely 40's. The heel is 3.25" high.

What say y'all?

Many Thanks!

Its not a D'orsay heel - a D'orsay refers to a pump's upper that is cut away at the sides to reveal the side of the foot. Your heel is just a heel - its a wooden heel that is covered with suede and leather. It would have been called a Spanish heel when it was introduced in the late 1920s, but it was the standard heel of the 1930s and 1940s and is the heel by which all other heels are named differently.

The heel has been breasted rather than knocked on - its a difference in construction of when the heel is attached to the sole, and how that was done, but it makes no real difference for the name of the type of heel.

Queen of thang - your heel is a Louis heel with a pronounced breast and slightly modified from the more typical hourglass shaped louis heel style. You see that type of heel in the 1880s a lot and again in the early 1910s, then again in the mid 1950s for a short while, although the heel is usually thinner at the waist and is sometimes referred to as a kitten heel, then it shows up again in the late 80s - early 90s, which I suspect this version is from.

Thank you Jonathan and Leisa!

They're by Yves Saint Laurent and I think they are from the 80s/90s. The lining/insole is red, and the other examples I've seen with similar insides and logo appear to be from that era.

I'm having one of those "keep it or sell it" debates with myself...they're simple and classy but the curve of the heel is suprisingly cute! And most importantly, totally my size. What to do, what to do...
