Is this a kit purse?

I'm trying to get this Lucite & fabric bag listed today (though I may keep it if it doesn't sell right away--I'm quite taken by it!), but I'm unsure as to "what" it is! In looking closely, I think it might be one of those purses you made from a kit. The hole that fits over the rigid clasp is bored out somewhat roughly & unevenly on the underside, not a smooth, finished-off edge. And you can see on the clear sides of the frame that the drill holes where the pins are at the bottom aren't even, either. The last "clue" is that the sewn "pocket" at the bottom where the stiffening is put in is open on one end, like a casing, and the cardboard peeks out a bit; I can see there are pen marks on it. The sewing part itself is quite nicely done, but not "perfect."

If it is a kit purse, does that affect value in any way? Worth more, or less? The only kit purse I've found so far on the internet is one that is priced ridiculously high....

And, lastly, would be be late 40s to early 50s? The fabric "looks" and "feels" that old to me.... It's really nice fabric, with some sprinkles of metallic thread running through, which don't show up in these smaller photos.

Thanks!

I think you are right Anne, for all the stated reasons and I don't think the value should be any less than a manufactured purse (the exception being a high end manufacturer). It really is cute and different which should add to the value.
Personally I quite like old kit purses, I like the fact that a real person who spent time to make it.

Thanks, Melody! I did list it as being a possible kit purse. I really, really like it--so much that I priced it "not to sell" (not really--LOL!) in case I change my mind and keep it! I did price it higher than the commercially made lucite-frame one I listed at the same time. The fabric is really nice, and it's a cute shape and size. I, too, like the fact that somebody made it themselves to carry--much more personal than buying one off the shelf in a store!
