Hi everyone,

Ok, I have quite a few of these "long" dresses - I bought them before I figured out that they really don't sell that well (at least in my experience ;)). Anyhoo, what is this exactly?

Thanks!

Dont' know if it's a prom dress. Might just be an evening dress. Very late 60's, maybe??

But, the empire waistline and the flowing Greecian skirt make it desireable now.

That is beautiful!! I would wear it!

Is that a silk chiffon? It looks 60s to me. The float style dresses weren't still around in the 70s.

I don't think you will have any problems selling it. It will definately sell at prom time. I would use 'Nicole Kidman style' in the description. If I were listing it, I could call it:

1960s Pink Silk Chiffon Float Gown Nicole Kidman Style Prom Dress

I would list that in my mall store or website in a heart beat. Aside from US prom goers, long dresses do very well with overseas buyers.

Boy, if you don't think you can sell it, send it to me! I have a couple buyers who would love it!!!

Hi Maureen!

Thanks so much for your info, you're always so helpful! What's interesting about the dress is that the underneath is a total straight cut. You can sort of see it in the side picture.
Thanks again for all the info gals!
Also, can anyone suggest a book or some way to know the difference between a chiffon or silk chiffon? I REALLY don't seem to know my fabrics :(

Be careful about using Nicole Kidman. You can mention her in your listing, saying it reminds you of a dress she wore...even show a picture...but it ebbs and flows on ebay whether a celeb in the title is key word spam if the item isn't actually related to them (a photo of her being sold, or something she owned, okay). I would mention her in the listing, and also make sure you put all the other descriptors in there too.

I say ebbs and flows, because you will probably be fine with it, but things change all the time.

I also think that sometimes using a celebrities name limits something at times. When an image is brought to someone's mind and it isn't the image that they were wanting to project, they eliminate it if all the other dresses that have Nicole Kidman in the title have had a commonality that they didn't like and it could be something completely different other than this look.....as she has many looks.

Thanks Patentleathershoes! Plus, I dunno, ever since she went overboard with her plastic surgery, she seems sorta weird to me & invokes negative connotations when I think of her ;)
I think I'm going to stick to Maureen's wonderful suggestion, sans Nicole.
1960s Pink Salmon Silk Chiffon Float Gown
Hmm.. is the word salmon unappealing to anyone? Because truly, it's more of a pink/peach salmon that a true, true pink.

Oh of course you are right Chris!! I haven't listed on eBay for so long now that I forget about the keyword stuff!!

Sorry, I didn't mean to lead you astray Vix!!

Thanks for catching me Chris, I mean spawn.....

 Maureen

He he he... I was already way way astray before I met you Maureen :bouncing:
