Is this a shoe buckle?

Yup, I'm lambasting you with questions today :embaressed: ... Finally I have time for all the stuff that's been lying around my sewing/crafting table! Spring has begun and it's time to get all these things sorted out that I left lying around since our work-highseason begun in January... (I already did the big "chuck all the junk out and take it to where it will be recycled"-tour yesterday).

I found this at a flea market a few years ago and though it would make a nice decorative belt buckle on a dress or a skirt (to be sewn on)... the stones are really nice ones.

But... could this have been a shoe buckle originally? It measures about 3 by 2 inches or 7.5 by 5 centimeters.

Thanks - so it is what I thought first, but then I kept looking at it and thought it might have been a shoe buckle :scratchchin: .

it's a slide for a sash or cloth belt
And I'll use it as that when something comes along that it will look nice with.

Agree that it's a belt buckle. For what it's worth, I find that the shoe buckles usually have a bit of a curve on them, so that they sit nicely over a shoe. Yours looks quite flat.
