i picked this mirror up today, but i'm not certain it's vintage? it's metal and the centre of the flowers is plastic, with a sort of hardboard to the back. any help would be much appreciated. thank you

To me it looks like a newer mirror. Not "new new" but not period. It reminds me of when the wrought iron baker's racks were the thing everyone had to have. I remember things like this out around the early 2000s and the late 90s and the styles were started a bit before (like maybe the mid 90s forward). Now, I would say most of them would have had all metal versus metal in plastic, but it reminds me of that time. The plastic would be the only thing throwing me off but maybe it was just at a different price point. Someone could come along and prove different and I could be wrong, but that's what it reminds me of, unless that timeframe was the reevival of it. The backing doesn't make it look like an older piece unless at one point the back was replaced .I worked at a high end furniture company and just remember all of the fancy iron mirrors, etc.

Anyone else have a better idea?

The hardboard backing is a newer thing. I don't think I have seen it behind pictures or mirrors from the 70s, just from the 80s and up. The mirror looks like was made for the 'vintage' market - the sort of thing you see in Home Sense (not sure if you have those in the U.S.) that are designed to appeal to the crowd that likes vintage.

I always listen to the radio up at my folks place - they get in mostly Canadian stations and its always interesting to hear the different business names (haven't heard that one, though). I was seriously bummed out though when they were talking about this ice cream place and then I realized it was taunting me from across the border. That would be an expensive ice cream - held up at the border a half hour plus putting money into an enhanced license. Well....It can't be THAT good of ice cream, can it be?

But I digress... Yeah, there is a lot of "goes well with vintage or victorian stuff" sort of accessory lines around"
