Is this an 1980s does 1950s prom dress please?

Hi and good morning, i have sort of 3 questions, about this dress,
My friend does house clearance and he found this dress under a bed in a house belonging to an elderly gentleman, the house hadnt been looked after, but my friend gave me this dress on wednesday, it was in a very sorry state ive cleaned it as best i can and have grown rather fond of it,

But im not sure of the date i cant find any details on the labels ,there is 2 different labels sewn one on top of each other,
Also i think the moths have been in the top fabric and have made holes, on most of the skirt, and the zipper is broken, the attached cotton under skirt has the same holes too.

Should i go much further trying to fix the dress for re sale or should i put this one down to experience,
Ive gotten a little bit attached to the dress and my emotions are in the way of knowing what to do

Lovely dress!! Labels do NOT appear to be 80s...yippee!! Too bad about the damage, but you still might be able to sell for stage or (God forbid) a costume, but at least someone is appreciating it instead of it sitting in a landfill, right!
