Is this Collins bag 60s or 70s?

I am a bit confused about the markings on Collins bags and their meanings. I think this bag is 70s, post Enid Collins, but here are the clues: No "Enid" or "ec" anywhere on the bag; the Collins with a horse logo is on the outside; and the stamp shown is in the inside.

Any Collins bag experts around? (please and thank you!)

Yes, early 1970's. I have a healthy collection on these of which I never get around to carrying, but I do adore them! I really like the ones with the amber colored stones like yours. My favorite one is Road Runner done in black, amber and brown. I always say that I will carry it in the fall, but alas it is still sitting in my closet. I do carry my Night Owl box though. Since it is a smaller black box with gold accents it is the perfect evening purse!

Talking about this makes me want to go Enid Shopping....

Actually, never getting around to carrying your collection might be wise: I have one in particular, called Horn of Plenty, which I've really worn down, even with careful use. Now I'm a bit scared to use the others!

Thank you for the further confirmation on this one!

Ahh, but what is the point to having a collection if you don't get to enjoy them?? I say use them if you are not saving them as a form of investment or have a special shelf for display. OR maybe you just need to purchase more vintage purses for yourself :drooling22: so that your Enids get a longer break in the rotation :D

I really need to get mine out of their closet hibernation. I don't not carry them out of worry, but because I have become such a pocket stuffer. I hardly carry a purse anymore due to the fact that I am flighty and leave them everywhere :icon_wall:

the horse and collins mark denotes it a Collins of Texas bag....when they bought the company from Enid they also bought the right to duplicate her designs...that symbol is a 1970's symbol, so dating collins bags is quite straightforward once the signatures are worked out....
