Hello All..

I snagged this sweetie a while ago. I couldnt tell from the phots if it was 20s or maybe a 60s replica, but thought I'd take a chance. I havent received it yet so these are all of the pics I have. Are you able to tell? Thanks in advance!

The last two pics aren't showing for me, but from the others, I think it's a '20s silk evening dress that has been upcycled - the armholes have been cut in, on one side quite drastically into the bust - probably because the delicate material was damaged under the arms from too much charlestoning and bad storage. Then the floral appliques have been added in more recent times. The diamantes may be original or an add on too, hard to say from what I can see. I can't tell what's happening with the skirt, I think it's been altered too - do you have any photos of it full length, either hanging or being worn?

The other thing is that you will need to wear something underneath because of the wide armhole which is likely to expose your breast.

Nicole I wondered if the flowers at the hip might be original, but I agree the ones on the shoulder are much more modern.

Melanie, I'm not sure: I'd need to see closer but I think they're probably an addition. The shoulder ones are definitely modern.

Looking at it again, I think the original skirt may have been folded up and handsewn. The extra ruffles below look like an addition in one pic, but original in another.

Wish I could see the extra two pics, as they're sure to add to the available information.

thanks, ladies. i dont actually have the dress in hand yet, so i can't take additional photos. but i will have it in a few days and will be sure to update this post. i appreciate your feedback. :)
