Is this dress 30\'s?

I have this navy blue wool gabardine dress, I *think* is 30's, but I am not sure. It has taffeta applique' ribbin to form shapes of flowers attached to the bottom of the skirt and sleeves. It snaps on the shoulder and on one side of the waist. Would that make it older? No designer label. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

from here it looks like 80's, but l dont want be a damp squab and rain on your parade too hard!! perhap s that shape was in there somewhere, or perhaps an earlier edwardian shape that has been altered perhaps or shortened? the length could be a 70s midi dress, with that almost empire look, smock efect...but 30's, doesnt ring any alarms for me...

It looks early 20s to me, c. 1921-22, just before the hemlines plunge back down the ankles. Think broad brimmed hat and lots of hair in buns and ringlets - ala Mary Pickford...

I can see where it would be along the line of 20's, if not a few years earlier. I did not think about the possibilty of it being maternity/nursing. That makes sense! Thanks everybody, I appreciate the help, I am still learning on this dating thing. (the clothing that is!)

I agree with early 20s, especially the quality of the wool twill looks very much like pieces of that era that I have. And the cloures are right on for that era
