Is this dress a uniform of some kind?

Early 30s dress with net collar and cuffs. It appears to be some kind of uniform. Did nurses always wear white? The label seems to hint at a medical use.

it reminds me of the lyons tea/coffee shops early outfits, possibly a maid's uniform, or housekeeper or nanny, would be my guess. HTH

I was thinking the same thing as Sara....maybe a nanny or a worker in an orphanage.

I saw a similiar outfit in a Shirley Temple movie--I'm not kidding:BAGUSE:

Could be nurses uniform. I pulled out my Grandmothers nursing school year book (Early 30's) There was a faculty picture. most werewearing white but 6 of them were wearing a colored uniform. Looking further there were some student shots with colored uniforms.
