Is this dress solidly 60's?

Pretty sure about the era on this one, I think? It has no tags other than the sizing tag. Sorry so clueless. Also, I have a few more pieces I'd love to ask you all about, but I don't want to clog up the forum. Keep them coming, or give it a rest?:) Thanks!

Agree with early 60's. Can you show the inside waist seam please? as it looks a little short for my liking. As the zip has been replaced or re-sewn in I wonder if it has been shortened there.
I do love the square back :)

I think you're right Melanie - nice deep hem there, suggesting it's been taken up. Agree with early '60s. Lovely print, and the chiffon overskirt is unusual. I wonder if the bodice was also covered originally?

Thanks all. Glad I'm not the only punster, Ruth! The whole dress has a chiffon overlay, yes. Thinking it's nylon. Here are some shots of the waist seam

Oh yes, it's been heavily altered, possibly shortening the bodice, I think all those tucks weren't there originally, maybe it didn't have the shelf bust and this has been created by taking the making the dress smaller in size.
They probably couldn't recreate the chiffon overlay on the top half nicely over the altered shape so did away with it.

If you compare the thread used to sew the size tag in to all other stitching you will be able to see what is original and what is not.

Ah, I can see it now, it's been sewn into the seams, so it's not very seperate from the fabric now. That's why we had trouble seeing it.
You're welcome.

Your dress reminds me of a 60s dress I have, which is chiffon over nylon (bodice and skirt):

It's not all the same, but sort of the same style. I believe mine wasn't shortened (though I can't look at it right now - just moved it into winter storage at the top of my wardrobe), and there's no alterations. It has quite a deep hem in the chiffon - you can just see it in the photo. My dress looks around the same length on me as yours on your model. I'm fairly tall and a bit long in the upper body, some of these dresses just are shorter on me...
