Is this dress vintage?

Hi I found this lovely dress today but I'm not sure, is it vintage? It appears to be handmade, and has no tags.

And, if it is vintage... from around when? Thank you, you all are amazing

The shoulder pads (very skinny made with a type of foam)

And the detail (amazing hand done beadwork and embroidery)

I don't recognise the style but I think it might be ethnic, perhaps Indian? I think it's modern, although the shoulder pads suggest it might be '80s.

Lately I've been seeing these ethnic Indian dresses in thrifts quite a bit. I'm not sure why. I don't remember seeing them so much.... I really don't think they are very old.

Intersesting. I've noticed a lot of Indian and Pakistani clothing in the thrifts too. Sometimes the beading and embroidery is exqusite and I've seen some wonderful dying techniques. I have hesitated to pick many up because they don't sell well but I should. In time they will be valued for the lovely garments that they are. If the side vents are not too high the tops make pretty dresses and they are nice as tunic tops over pants.

I think yours is 80s as well, did the matching pants come with it?

No matching pants, it is pretty but I returned it, when I checked it over I found it was badly beaten up, all torn at all the seems - my thrift store allows for exchanges so I swapped it for THE COOLEST 70's dress evah!!

I will post a pic later And some funky wedges wich I think are 80's (pretty sure but I never know lol)...thanks I love hearing all your wisdom and coments, this is so much fun!

I LOVE cowl necks, I'm about to start hunting them all down lol, I can't fit 90% of this collection, so I'm listing it to get stuff that does fit Here's the new dress, it's not like the other but I think it rocks...I think it used to be a coat based on how it's been altered, but anyways here it is
