Is this Irish jacket 60s?

This one looks like mid-60s to me, with the collar, front placket, and the shape, but somehow I'm doubting myself. The fact that it doesn't button all the way down is a bit odd, no? Opinions? Thanks!

That is peculiar - can you show the hem and the stitching below the button section? I wonder if it was a dress that was shortened, or a jacket that was sewn up.

It looks to me like it was made this way, not altered. Here's a picture of the seam below the buttons (hard to see because of the plaid, but it's definitely not an alteration), and one of the inside showing the lining, which also appears original.

Sorry I misunderstood, when you said it didn't button all the way down the front, I thought you meant it did not open below that.

Ending the button plaquet there is a visual trick, it leads the eye to the smallest point in the body, the waist. It was likely worn with either a matching pencil or A line skirt which would also have been high waisted.

Thank you, I appreciate it and loved learning about that visual trick. Maybe I'll try it to make my waist look smaller!

hmmm...womenswear isn't my area of expertise but this looks more recent to me - more like the jackets I wore to work in the 90s and 2000s. It is really cute but even that label looks much more recent than 60s to my eye. I wonder if we can get some more experts to chime in on this one.

Maureen I agree there was a revival of this style around that time but I'm quite sure this is original 1960's.
I found another example of the full suit which also shows the 1960's Donegal tweed label and early wool mark logo:

i did find a couple of suits listed as vintage that have the same label.

They are probably both mid 60s as they have the woolmark 'certification applied for' label.

This is listed as 50s, but can't be due to the woolmark.

I haven't found anything more recent, so I think 60s is probably right for this jacket.

I was going to say that one does not look 50s to me at all.

You guys are the womens wear experts - it just has that more modern look to my eye.

Thanks all! I am 100% sure this is not 90s! If you could feel the fabric and see the way it is constructed you would be too. I just wasn't sure where in the decade to place it, or if just maybe it might be early 70s. Appreciate the links !
