Hi there, Pretty piece of history there. The fur type is genuine, and it’s muskrat that was dyed to look like mink.
I can see some fur wear along the opening edges starting at around the shoulder/collar bone area as well as along the edges of the hem.
Muskrats have a longer layer of guard hair which protects it while in the wild and a softer layer of underfur which helps to keep it warm.
Based on the overall shape, the absence of a collar, the presence of the long lapels in front, and the lining with the arm straps inside, I would date your stole to the 40s.
