Is this purse from the 20\'s? Earlier?

My step-mom gave me this purse to sell for her. She is 94 (!!!) and all she knows is that she got it from her mother-in-law. I had assumed it was from the 20’s (based on gut feeling alone). My step-mom thinks late 1890’s or early 1900’s. It’s in GREAT condition, but then my step-mom has always been a total neat-freak her entire life. Everything is wrapped and protected. I guess you would call it an ivory color with metal beads and metal (?) closure. That's a little attached mirror in the open shot. I was hoping to list it soon. Any opinions appreciated - thanks!

Wow.. that's gorgeous Amanda! Condition looks wonderful too, as you say - are they little cut steel beads?
I had a look in my handbag book and they were pretty popular with the Victorians, as with the cut steel studs at the clasp. So I suppose your step-mom could be right, but I know what you mean about the deco feel, with the geometric design.
I think we need a purse person! :)

I think its in between, late 1910s or very early 1920s. Steel beads are less popular towards the end of the 1920s, and beaded bags are actually at their height of popularity from about 1918 - 1923, which I think yours dates from. Great photos of the purse BTW.
