Is this real snakeskin?

I've just come across this site and I'm so happy to have found such a great source of information. Hope you guys can help me!

I bought this bag on ebay and it was listed as genuine vintage snakeskin but I'm really not sure... Any pointers would be great. And I'd say 1980's for the date but please correct me if I'm wrong.
