Is this satin crepe?

Hi!
I have a gorgeous dress I believe late 1930s or very early 1940s with a puckered silky satin surface and puckered back that isn't as silky as the outside. Both sides of puckering is very distinct. Crepe back satin seems right although the puckering is more pronounced in this dress.

Thoughts?

The difference between hammered satin and cloqué could be nothing depending on one's definition of cloqué—sometimes the texture is made in the weave, sometimes it is an emboss (as in hammered). To me, Brooke's photo of the fabric reverse looks like a weave pattern instead of the reverse of an emboss.

Just want to say that thanks to this thread I was able to identify that a 1940s (I believe) waistcoat I just found (in the identical colour, to boot) is probably silk cloqué. However, the non-shiny side is on the outside, except for the lapels, interestingly.

Indeedy! Your wish is my command.

Corrections on dating if I'm wrong also welcome...I am trying to date things as much as possible by myself rather than bothering the forum, but if I'm wrong I want to know!

Edit: whoops I think I set the white balance a bit too cold on that shot, it's really a warmer purple. Also, it has rhinestone-centre buttons which you can't see well in the photo.
