Is this suit 40's or 50's? Help with descriptive word.

Hi, Is this suit 40's or 50's? I am tring to think of a good way to describe the verticle streaky fabric and color of this suit. Is it heathered, or a streaky oatmeal color? That just doesn't sound appetizing! PS, it's clipped in the back on the pic of just the jacket.

I vote early '50s - I can't see any streakiness, it just looks a light grey worsted wool on my screen. Do you have a close up?
