Is this sundress 1970's or 70's doing 50's?

Is this sundress 1970\'s or 70\'s doing 50\'s?

This cotton print sun dress is stumping me! The color scheme and pattern screams early 1970's but the style of the dress seems earlier, like early 50's (I've had some late 40's- early 50's cusper sundress in a similar style).

It's homemade with machine and hand sewing so no label to help me and it has a metal back zipper!!!

My first thought was '70s, and now I'm second-guessing myself. This is why homemade stuff can be so hard!

What do you think about the possibility that it was a mom making it for her teenage daughter (16 or 17) in the '70s? If that's the case, she would have been an adult in the '50s and learned to sew in the 40s or 50s, hence the metal zipper and confusing styling.

Nope, no selvedge writing, someone had attempted to sew the edges of all the seams in an attempt at "french binding" I think it's called. I'm leaning towards early 70's on it myself but just thought I'd double check. You guys are probably right about a mother sewing it for her teenage daughter, it's small- 32" bust!

hi, l would say that with the orange, cream and brown colours so predominant this would make it 70's, the chevron print too
