Is this vintage dress from HB Jrs of California too dressy for Christmas dinner?

Hello! I just picked up this really lovely dress from HB Jrs of California yesterday for a great price, practically free and I was so excited I just started snapping pictures of it. The thing is, it's kind of glamorous and I'm going to spend x-mas in England this year with my b/f, and I'm wondering if this dress is too fancy. Right now, I live in a rural town in NC and wearing it here seems out of place, and it's not like there's many events to go to where I'd have the chance to wear this dress. Here's a link to the pic (I can't insert a pic on here for some reason):

Too dressy or okay for a Christmas in England?? Thanks!

Here is your pic - certainly I don't consider this too dressy, but then I'd wear this dress every day: there's nothing wrong with being glamourous!

I'd date it as early to mid 1970s. It's a really nice style and a great colour.

Hi there from England!

It's a great dress, and red is a good Christmas colour. I suppose it depends what kind of Christmas you're having here. Some people dress up for Christmas, some spend it in their jim-jams. Are you with family or here as a tourist, town or country, etc?

But I second what Nicole said, nothing wrong with glamour! I suggest you pack it anyway, just in case.

Hi- thanks so much for posting the pic- I kept trying to and it wasn't showing :S. Anyway, I'll be heading to Tunbridge Wells, so kind of country. I'll be the tourist, but my boyfriend is English- His mom & sister wear dresses on x-mas, but kind of casual Marks & Spencers/Next type of deal. I've been going back & forth though between NC & England though for years, and I always notice how cool people dress in London. It's really refreshing from NC.

Yes, London is a special case. You can wear anything here, it's one of the things I love about it. Tunbridge Wells isn't exactly known for being fashion-forward! But it's a well-to-do town, and if dresses are worn, you can certainly wear this one, and be the belle of the ball. The colour really suits you. I think this dress would work well with flats, which can be a good way to make a long dress look less formal.
