Is this Women\'s suit 50\'s?

I have this 2 piece wool suit. It has shoulder pads and a side metal zipper on the skirt. It looks classic 50's to me except that it is way too short. The hem is about 2 inches so if it was let down another inch it would still be pretty short. Right now it skims the bottom of my knee and I'm 5'4. No labels unfortunately. Could it be 40's or 60's instead?

It looks mid 50s to me and it probably was shortened for someone who wore it into the early 60s, but it might have belonged to a short woman and the hemlines did get to the top of the calf (about an inch below the knee) in about 1954 before heading back down a bit.
