JA Resort 80-90’s Patchwork Made in India coats and jackets. Many in colorful denim and silk. Can’t find anything. Looking for history. Thank you.

It looks like stonewash denim which was huge in the 80’s. I’m wondering if it has upcycled. Its really cool either way.

I suspect the jacket was sold in a gift/clothing shop in one of the JA Resorts hotels...

If you have a magnifying glass (I have not yet discovered how to make this larger in a post), you might be able to see that at least one of the JA Resorts hotels is at the Indian Ocean (the Maldives?)...and your label says it was made in India, which seems to be a Maldives neighbor.

Back in the day, I’d have called this Snow washed, rather than stone washed. The white effect was as a result of using some kind of bleach/acid, along with the stone washing. Stone washed was faded and worn in, but not bleached, whereas Snow washed was bleached and worn.

Hmmm... I'm doubtful of the connection to those JA Resorts... the logo is totally different, and the creation of the group name as "JA Resorts" isn't so long ago - the jacket does look older to me. It looks like this JA Resorts group grew out of the iconic Jebel Ali Hotel in Dubai - 20-30 years ago, this was the place to stay in Dubai, before the Burj al Arab and all the artificial islands happened. Back then it was just that hotel, no JA Resorts and they didn't have the hotels in the Maldives and all that (I briefly worked for a travel company specalising in Dubai a bit over 20 years ago).
