I am trying to find out some information on a Jacqmar Scarf I found in a charity shop. I’d love to know roughly when it was made and if there is a specific designer/design name for it. Many thanks.
Jacqmar was a London company founded in the 1930s, originally as a supplier of fine silks to the Paris couture houses. It began making scarves from the leftover silk fabric as a sideline. During WWII Jacqmar was known for some delightful propaganda-theme prints.
The company carried on 1950s-70s with more traditional florals, geometrics, etc., but still with design flair. I don't know for sure, but I would guess yours to be 60s or 70s. Great find!
